Board Director

Reports to: Chair (currently Steve Burt)

Brief description: An MSF Board Director is crucial in steering Mallee Sustainable Farming towards its strategic goals. The board consists of Farmer Directors elected from the Mallee region and Specialist Directors appointed for their expertise in governance, finance, and business management. Directors oversee the organisation strategic direction, ensure financial health, manage risks, and uphold MSF’s integrity. They serve two-year terms, fostering sustainable agriculture through informed decision-making and robust governance practices.

Key Criteria: The Board is seeking skills and experience that compliments and/or fills gaps in the preferred Board skill set and provides the diversity as identified by Board skills need assessment as a priority but not necessarily limited to.

Regional Internship in Farming Systems and Applied Grains Research and Extension

Reports to: MSF Research Manager (Penny Roberts)

Brief description: This one-year position provides graduate students with a kick-start to a career in grains research through hands-on experience at Mallee Sustainable Farming, leading low rainfall farming research and extension organisation. Through a regional internship in farming systems and applied grains research and extension. The intern will be based in the SA Mallee, living and working in the local community.

Key Criteria:

  1. Completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science or equivalent in the past 5 years (2024 graduates are eligible to apply)
  2. The right to work in Australia
  3. A current Australian driver licence
