Chris Saunders UniSA, testing compaction in ripped soil plot

Deep ripping sandy soils

Two separately funded deep ripping projects are being delivered in the SA & Vic Mallee.
Both projects are looking to increase productivity and ground cover on the Mallee regions deep sandy soils through increased adoption of deep ripping. Demonstration sites with progressive farmers in SA (SAGIT) and Victoria (NLP) have been established to improve the outcomes and adaptation of deep ripping and measure the longer-term benefits.
This project aims to address current knowledge gaps in ripping practices with particular focus on maximising the longevity of the ripping effect.
Immersive Ag virtual tours will be developed to promote this work.
